Acne scars are the result of inflamed blemishes. The skin pore swells and the infection can spill and spread out into the surrounding tissue. The scars can heal in a mass of raised tissues or form an atrophic scarring similar to the chickenpox scars. The skin can try to repair the breakouts by forming new collagen fibers, but it may not be as flawless as the original skin.

Acne vulgaris anti aging skin care

Acne vulgaris are colloquially termed as acne lesions, nodules, pustules, comedones, cysts, and papules. Comedones are the famous blackheads and whiteheads while papules are the raised red bumps.

Pustules are the raised white bumps while nodules are the large rubberlike balls that you see as sometimes tender beneath the skin. The cysts also look like rubberlike balls, but they are firm.

The large pores you often see on your face are actually the hair follicles. The hair follicles occupy the epidermis or top surface layer of the skin. The pores extend down to the fat of the skin where the sebaceous glands contribute to the production of acne.

The sebaceous glands are attached to the skin pores or hair follicles. Most women have skin pores made of visible tiny light hair called vellus hairs. The vellus hairs can be seen coming out of the skin pores thin, short, and light colored.

The hair largely varies in density depending on the unique genetic factors of the individual. The thick hair coming out of the huge pores is called terminal hair. The terminal hair is found on the scalp, face, armpits, and pubic area. The vellus hair turns into terminal hair in certain parts of the body during puberty.

Scrubbing, squeezing or picking your zits can cause severe damage. It can result in stubborn, ugly scars. The scars are better prevented with a timely acne treatment.

Could a vitamin a day keep your acne at bay?

Ensuring your skin receives adequate nutrition can help control acne. With the appropriate nutrition, it will produce the right amount of sebum. The sebum is responsible for clogging pores, which gradually develops into acne.

Would taking diet supplements keep your acne at bay? A nutritious diet meal plan can help prevent acne. Research found a deficiency of chromium, magnesium, selenium, zinc, and Vitamins A and B can lead to acne.

Chromium is a powerful supplement focused on healing skin infections and also helps balance the blood sugar levels. Past studies found the link between low chromium levels and acne outbreaks.

Selenium reduces the severity of acne and scarring. Vitamin B complex, Vitamin C, L-Carnitine, and zinc may help prevent and cure acne. Nutrient deficiencies and high blood sugar may develop into or cause acne.

In 1996, a study published in the Journal of American Academy of Dermatology found the essential fatty acids in flax seed and linseed help correct hormonal imbalances that usually results in acne. The lipoic acid was also seen necessary for the proper metabolism of sugar.

Choose what you eat

One reminder – eat less carbohydrates and oily foods. Why? Processed and refined foods lack nutritional value and are considered as simple carbohydrates. These nutrient shortages can cause the oil in your skin pores to become sticky, thick, and harden. Bacteria trapped in these pores can proliferate or gets inflamed, causing it to become red and swollen.

In 2007, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published a study about how a glycemic load affects acne. The glycemic index measures how quickly foods raise blood sugar. Mostly, the refined and processed food demonstrated a high glycemic index and high glycemic load. At the end of the study, the acne decreased in the low glycemic group by almost twice the rate of the high glycemic group.

Simple way to remove blackheads

  • 1 slice tomato
  • 1slice grape fruit

Rub the sliced tomato on clogged pores for 30 seconds. Wait 2 minutes. Rub a slice of grape fruit for another 30 seconds. Let the juices stay for 5 minutes. Rinse with tepid water. Repeat for 3 evenings in a row. Remove the blackheads gently on the third evening.

Lemon juice is another scar removal method used by most women in skin whitening and fading acne marks. The juice helps remove dead skin cells and promotes new cell growth. For maximum effectiveness, the juice of a freshly squeezed lemon should be applied on the skin and left for at least 15 to 20 minutes before you wash it off.

Apple cider vinegar can alleviate several skin problems. Dip a small cotton ball and apply to your acne. Let it stay for about 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse with water. Do this twice a day.

The Orange peel powder is very suitable for blackheads, skin lightening, and reducing acne scars. Its properties include deep cleansing of pores to prevent clogged pores, enhance collagen production, control oily skin, prevent acne, improve blood circulation, tighten skin pores, and balance the ph level of the skin.

Cells regenerate faster in a moist environment. This means leaving a cut open to air may promote scarring. Always clean your face before you go to bed.
